D75 Fathers' Council
The Fathers' Council has been activated! Formerly the Fathers' Initiative, the Fathers' Council is a group for D75 Fathers. The idea is to create a sense of community for our D75 dads where, in partnership with staff and leadership, we can discuss how we can work toward improving ourselves, the schools, and the lives of our children. We're committed to creating engaging opportunities. We're committed to building capacity for other dads! Join us!
Last weekend, a group of Father’s from the District 75 Father’s Council partnered with Positive Exposure Gallery to engage in a photography workshop for D75 fathers. This workshop series is hosted in partnership with the Office of Parent Engagement and the Office of Arts Education. During the workshop, the Fathers learned elements of photography, and how to create dynamic compositions. The day was filled with thought provoking conversations, picture taking and idea sharing. This program will also include a community outing and will culminate with an exhibition and celebration for families, where the work will be framed and displayed. The next class will take place March 29 at 5 pm, at the District Office located on 400 1st Avenue, NY 10010.

Look out for notices inviting fathers to register for a workshop that will allow participants to prepare and cook a meal! Participants will take home ingredients to practice preparing that meal at home after the session(s). Word has it Chicken Alfredo and Pasta Salad are among the menu items to be expected! The two planned sessions will be held at P79 located at 55 E 120th street, NY 10035, 11:00am-1:00pm.
