P17X Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)
P17X Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS)
The PBIS system at P17X is named The Bridge to Success.
Definition of the Bridge to Success
Our students come to us with varying degrees of skills and abilities. The Bridge to Success, symbolizes our dedication to access students strengths, improve their weaknesses and move from one level of success to the next. We are preparing them to cross over the bridge from our school to a less restrictive school environment.
P17X PBIS Bridge to Success Three Tiered System
Tier I – School Wide
- Administrative and PBIS Support
- Classroom Support and Incentives
Tier II
- Small Group Support
- Conflict Resolution
Tier III
- Individualized Support
- Counseling
How the System Works
The system is a leveled point system, where students can earn up to five points for positive behaviors. The points are earned by following the Five Pride Standard of Conduct rules. (See standards below) Where appropriate, students self-assess their behavior using The P17X Standard of Conduct Rubric (See Rubric below) and record their points on a point sheet. Students, who earn points consistently, receive classroom incentives, move up through levels and gain access to PBIS school-wide incentives. Additionally, students can earn Pride Bucks for special incentives. Since the PBIS System is not punitive, there are no specific consequences. Rather students do not earn points or move through levels to earn incentives. When students are not successful on this tier, they are referred to tier two and then on to tier three if necessary.
