Message from the Principal

Dear P17x Families,

It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new interim acting Principal of P17X. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this school community. Dr. Hogard is assisting me with making a smooth transition. Thank you for the warm welcome that I received today.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for 10 years. I have served as a teacher, unit coordinator, and assistant principal at P186X, another District 75 school in the Bronx. I consider my most important job to that of a child advocate. I am thrilled to bring my skills as an educational leader to the P17X Community and to work with you as a partner in education to ensure our student’s success. I will spend a lot of time getting to know the students and staff. I will celebrate and highlight their successes and encourage them every day. It is important that our students feel valued. It is also important that our teachers, staff, and parents feel valued. Not only am I excited to begin working with our students, but I look forward to the work we will do together.

I view education as a life-long process and expect that I will continue to learn much about the uniqueness of P17X this year and in the years to come. Most importantly, I bring a belief that students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to unite my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support our students. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students, I encourage you to become involved in every way possible. I look forward to meeting you soon!
