Dear Families,

I hope this message finds you well and that your child is off to a strong start this school year. As we begin the academic journey together, I want to share important information regarding upcoming assessments, curriculum updates, and key dates to keep in mind. Why Assessments Matter

Assessments play a vital role in helping us understand each student’s academic strengths and areas for growth. The data gathered allows us to:

• Place students in appropriate instructional groups.
• Provide targeted Tier 2 interventions to support their learning needs.
• Monitor progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

These assessments are not high-stakes tests but rather tools that help us tailor instruction to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

Assessment Windows

During the screener windows, students will participate in universal screeners in reading and math. These screeners help us identify students who may benefit from additional support and guide our instructional planning.

Please ensure your child is present and well-rested during these dates.

  • September 8 - September 12: WebABBLS, MAP, Sandi
  • September 15 - September 19: WebABBLS, Tier 2 Literacy Screeners (Fundations, Lexia), Curriculum Baseline
  • Due Date: September 19
• Middle of Year Screeners
  • January 5 - January 9: WebABBLS, SANDI, MAP
  • January 12 - January 16: WebABBLS, Tier 2 Literacy Screeners (Fundations, Lexia), Curriculum Baseline
  • Due Date: January 16
• End of Year Screeners
  • May 11 - May 15: WebABBLS, SANDI, MAP
  • May 18 - May 22: Tier 2 Literacy Screeners (Fundations, Lexia), Curriculum Baseline

Grading and Report Card Deadlines

P17X operates on a two-term system, with two marking periods per term. Report cards must be completed at the close of each marking period. Report cards can be accessed using your NYSCA Account.

• Term 1, Marking Period 1: November 6, 2025
• Term 1, Marking Period 2 (Final): January 23, 2026
• Term 2, Marking Period 1: March 4, 2026
• Term 2, Marking Period 2 (Final): June 15, 2026
