A Message from Ms. Jones
Welcome to P17X!
There is nothing more important than knowing that your child is in a school where they are seen, supported, and given every opportunity to succeed. As an educator, a proud graduate of NYC public schools, and a parent myself, I understand the deep trust you place in us when you send your child to school each day. That trust means everything to me, and it is my commitment to you that we will do everything in our power to provide your child with the education, support, and opportunities they deserve.
P17X is more than just one school—it is a community made up of many classrooms, many students, and many journeys coming together as one. Across multiple buildings, we serve students from early childhood through young adulthood, in elementary, middle, and high school. Each of our students is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and goals for the future. No matter what path your child is on, we are here to walk that path with them, helping them learn, grow, and build a future full of possibility.
We believe that every child can learn and achieve in their own way. Success does not look the same for everyone. Some students will grow through academics, while others will thrive in hands-on vocational experiences. Some will learn how to communicate in new ways, while others will gain independence in their daily lives. No matter what success looks like for your child, they are capable, they are valued, and they belong here.
Our job is to give students the skills they need not just for today, but for their future. Every day, they are learning how to solve problems, advocate for themselves, build relationships, and navigate the world with confidence. We are committed to helping every student develop strong reading and communication skills because we know that literacy is the foundation of learning and independence. We work closely with families and specialists to create individualized education plans that meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring that they are receiving the support, resources, and instruction that will help them grow. We are also dedicated to preparing our students for life beyond school—whether that means further education, job training, or gaining the skills they need to be as independent as possible.
Families, I want you to know that you are not alone in this journey. We believe that education works best when schools and families work together. Your voice matters, your input matters, and your hopes for your child matter. We are here to listen, to collaborate, and to make sure that your child is getting exactly what they need to thrive.
To our students—I see you, I believe in you, and I know you are capable of great things.
To our families—We are in this together, and I could not be prouder to walk this journey with you.
Let’s make this a great year together. Angela Jones Principal, P17X
Best regards,
